Barça hit with one-year transfer ban

If theFIFA ban announced yesterdayis confirmed, Barcelona will be unable to sign any players until the summer of 2015. Fans are asking themselves why things have come this far. The reason for the ban is the signing of several underage players since 2009. How did things come this far? MARCA answers some of these questions.
1. For breaching article 19 of FIFA's Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. A club cannot sign players under the age of 18 from outside the European Union or under the age of 16 from within the EU.
2. They signed several underage players. They were fully aware of their age and the existence of the FIFA regulations.
3. Barcelona is not the only guilty party, which is why FIFA has also fined the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) as they were fully aware of the regulations.
4. Barcelona do not deny breaking the rules, although they highlight the education the players receive at their 'La Masia' academy.
5. FIFA has spoken of ten players investigated due to their contractual situation. Barcelona knew full well they were not following the rules.
6. Barça is to appeal the FIFA ban. If they lose their appeal, they would be prepared to take it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to achieve a favourable outcome.
7. It has come to this point because a club or a person reported Barcelona to FIFA.
