Pedro the outcast

Times aren't great for Pedroin Barcelonaat the moment. Despite his exceptional performances on the pitch, the player isn't getting the recognition he deserves. The arrival of Neymar, coupled with Tata's predilection for Alexis, has taken its toll and Pedro has been pushed out of the starting line-up ahead of the big matches.
Recent events clearly show that the player has been reduced to the role of substitute as far as Martino is concerned. Pedro didn't play for a single minute in either of the Champions League matches against Manchester City, as was alsothe case against Atlético. What's more, he only featured for the last 20 minutes against Real Madrid in the Bernabéu. In other words, he has been left out of the four most important games of 2014.
This situation is just the tip of the iceberg, as this has been the pattern since the season began - although back then the matches weren't so crucial. Take the group phase of the Champions league, for example, Pedro made the starting eleven on three occasions and only finished the last two (against Ajax and Celtic), when the team was practically through to the knock-out phase. In the two clashes with Milan, he racked up a grand total of 15 minutes, although he managed to score a goal. On top of that, it must also be noted that he only played the last six minutes of the match against Real Madrid in the first half of the season.
